European Union and Latin American leaders called for a quicker pace in concluding the EU/Mercosur cooperation and trade negotiations. The statement took place during the meeting in Brussels of the Euro-Latinamerica Parliamentary assembly.

The Following steps could be considered at country level:

  1. Contact the European Delegation and the National Authorising Officer and request information on the programming process in the region and in the country.

  2. Ask the European Delegation for a meeting to discuss the process.

  3. Ask the National Authorising Officer for a meeting to discuss the process.

  4. Ask the European Delegation whether civil society organisations have been contacted by the delegation as part of this process or have shown interest to engage.

  5. Ask the European Delegation for relevant documents and the outcome of the regional meeting that was held at the beginning of the programming exercise (January-March 2006).

  6. Identify whether CSOs are already engaged and/or interested in engaging in the programming process.

  7. Share any useful information with us.
